Kellen Dunham and Billy Garrett Jr. Earn Big East Player of the Week Honors

Player of the Week:  Kellen Dunham, Butler

Dunham averaged 20 points in two games last week, including 25 against Purdue on Saturday evening.  He also chipped in with 4 rebounds in each of the Bulldogs’ victories and shot 57% from the field including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc.  Those numbers are right on his season average of 19.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.  Dunham is second in the Big East in scoring behind Creighton’s Doug McDermott, who is averaging 25.3 points per game.  This is Dunham’s first Big East Player of the Week honor.

Rookie of the Week:  Billy Garrett Jr., DePaul

Garrett averaged 15.5 points in DePaul’s two victories last week including 17 against Chicago State on Sunday.  He also had 4 steals in that game that took overtime to get the win.  As a freshman, Garrett Jr. is averaging 28.7 minutes and 10.5 points per game.  He is also second on the team in assists with 3.5 per game.  This is the second time this season Garrett has earned Rookie of the Week honors and is DePaul’s third as a team, with Tommy Hamilton IV also getting the recognition.
