A familiar face is back to claim player of the week honors in the Big East.
Player of the Week: Doug McDermott, Creighton Bluejays
Creighton cruised to two victories last week – at Long Beach St. and home for Nebraska – with the best offensive player in the country naturally playing a big role. McDermott averaged 27 points in the two games and hit all 13 of his free throws. He also went 7 of 13 from behind the arc and snagged 12 boards. This is McDermott’s third player of the week recognition in four weeks.
Rookie of the Week: Myles Davis, Xavier Musketeers
Xavier played just one game last week, which was a tough contest against Bowling Green in which the Musketeers needed overtime to get the victory. Davis came off the bench, but still finished with 29 minutes played and accumulated 14 points. Twelve of his 14 came from behind the arc, which he finished 4 of 5 from, and two of them came in overtime to help propel Xavier to the victory. Davis is averaging 10 points and 2.6 rebounds in nine games played. This is his first rookie of the week recognition.
