The Big East weekly conference honors.  Someone finally had a better week than Doug McDermott.

Player of the Week:  James Bell, Villanova Wildcats

Bell, who was named the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament MVP, averaged 15.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in the Wildcats three victories.  His best game came in the championship against Iowa where he finished with 20 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal in Villanova’s overtime victory to claim the title.  Through seven games, Bell is averaging 17 points and 6.3 rebounds while playing 31 minutes per game, and is a big reason why the Wildcats have gotten out to a 7-0 start.  He leads the team in 3-pointers made and is shooting 30% from behind the arc.

Rookie of the Week:  Billy Garrett Jr., DePaul Blue Demons

In three games played last week, Garrett Jr. averaged 10.6 points in 31 minutes played per contest.  However, it was DePaul’s game against Oregon State that Garrett really excelled.  He finished with a double-double in the Blue Demons’ 93-81 victory, notching career highs in points (15) and assists (10).  Through seven games, Garrett is averaging 8.6 points and 4.1 assists.
