The Morning Dump is a daily post compiling a list of links and commentary of various Big East topics.
Countdown to the first games of the college basketball season: 16 days
- Josh Fortune, the 6-foot-5 sophomore guard at Providence, could become known as one of the best shooters in the Big East this season. He showed flashes last year, but was ultimately too inconsistent, converting just 29% of his 3-point attempts. But with a year’s experience under his belt and a better roster around him, he should be able to elevate his game in the upcoming season.
- CBSSports.com compiled a list of the players and coaches who have the biggest shoes to fill heading into the 2013-14 season. You could find a player on every team in the country to make this list, but ultimately some are more important than others. The lone representative from the Big East on Gary Parrish’s list is actually Brandon Miller, Butler’s new head coach. Following Brad Stevens is a tough task, especially with the roster Miller will have in his first year.
- The Preseason All-Big East First Team was announced at Media Day last Wednesday, and our friends over at The Bark of Hinkle broke down the six-man team. Doug McDermott was a given to be the Preseason Player of the Year, but the rest of the squad is pretty darn talented as well.
