The Morning Dump is a daily post compiling a list of links and commentary of various Big East topics.

Countdown to the first games of the college basketball season:  21 days

  • Jameel McKay, a highly touted JUCO player who transferred to Marquette for this season, has opted to leave the program before ever playing a game.  Coach Buzz Williams has made a killing finding talented JUCO players and turning them into stars.  McKay was supposed to be next in line as a Golden Eagle.  He made his announcement via Twitter Thursday morning mentioning personal reasons.  Marquette has a deep and experienced front court this year, and maybe he knew playing time would be limited.

  • We all know that Doug McDermott is really good at the game of basketball, but now he’s even being compared to NBA greats:  Larry Bird and Dirk Nowitzki.  He should be wearing a NBA uniform a year from now, and will have a chance to be as great as those guys at the next level.

Topics: Basketball, Big East, Brandon Austin, Doug McDermott, Marquette Golden Eagles, Rysheed Jordan
