The Morning Dump is a daily post compiling a list of links and commentary of various Big East topics.

Countdown to the first games of the college basketball season:  32 days

  • The Butler Bulldogs landed 4-star recruit Kelan Martin.  Martin, a 6-foot-5 small forward is Rivals 143 ranked recruit in the class of 2014.  His AAU coach said “he provides Butler with a player they don’t currently have on their roster with his offensive skillset.”  This is a huge score for Brandon Miller and the Bulldogs.

  • Cliff Alexander, ESPN’s #3 overall ranked prospect in the class of 2014, has cut his list to five schools, which includes DePaul.  He is a 6-foot-8, 225 pound power forward from Chicago.  Needless to say, this would be a huge get for Oliver Purnell and the Blue Demons who have been down-and-out for a few years now.  Alexander’s other four schools are:  Illinois, Michigan State, Kansas and Memphis.  DePaul seems like a longshot on this list, but more and more big time recruits are choosing the Big East when it was expected to not be the case with the conference reconfiguration.  And he has some player connections on the team that he has admitted to liking.  Cross your fingers DePaul faithful.
