Providence forward LaDontae Henton was arraigned today on a simple domestic assault charge, this according to a report from Amanda Milkovits of the Providence Journal. The soon to be junior and his ex-girlfriend were both arrested last Friday. His girlfriend reportedly told police Henton “…threw her on the floor and smashed her cell phone.” Both plead not guilty at today’s hearing. No comment has yet been made by either Providence College or head coach Ed Cooley.
Needless to say we will continue to monitor this sensitive situation. However, keep this in mind: Cooley has preached accountability in the two seasons he’s been at the helm in Providence. It was the point of emphasis of school president Rev. Brian Shanley during Cooley’s introductory press conference. PC had a number of legal issues like this sprout up while Keno Davis, Cooley’s direct predecessor, was head coach. Because of that, it will be interesting to see how Providence handles this particular situation.
